I just tried to update my Addons to see if there was a new version of NoScript, but updates did not find anything so I thought I would go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... /noscript/ to see what version was displaying on the webpage. It was 2.0.9.3 which is the same as what I had installed. I know Mozilla are a bit behind compared with the latest stable version that can be obtained from this site, but the current stable version of NoScript is 2.0.9.6 which is three versions in front. Have three versions been released in a relatively short space of time, or are Mozilla just very slow with plugins updates? I think I will regularly check from this site in future rather than wait for Firefox to check for updates.

2.0.9.3 was out January 3. So IMO AMO is a bit behind.

I installed the NoScript development build from http://noscript.net/getit#devel
From then on I've always been updated to the latest and greatest without having to wait for AMO reviews. I suggest you do likewise. By the way, "the latest stable version" is a bit of a misnomer in the case of NoScript. The most recent development build is the one Giorgio recommends people use.

Unless an outstanding bug or security enhancement is mandatory, though, I try to put at least one week between "stable" releases, since some users find automatic updates rather annoying.

I noticed further down page, clicking on development build is 2.0.9.6rc1 https://secure.informaction.com/downloa ... 9.6rc1.xpi this appears to be a beta version, so I assume that is not neccessarily a stable version. Would I be right?

2.0.9.6rc1 (release candidate 1) is the same as 2.0.9.6, except for the fact that after installing it you will then get updates for development versions, ie. much more often, sometimes just because of trivial changes.
Development versions are also the first to get new features or radical changes that might cause issues that didn't show up in internal tests but before release they get the same testing treatment like the ones of the stable branch.

The development versions get bug fixes faster than the release version. They are updated more often and their updates don't have to wait on an AMO review. I'm suggesting that you install NoScript 2.0.9.6rc1. According to Giorgio, "latest dev build is always the best version available".
