General issues with NoScript 10.1.4 Configuration

Post by RayG »

Having problems understanding Noscript 10.* with FF V57. I have just had to rebuild a system from scratch and I am trying to build up the NoScript rules but...

I have used the old version of noscript with FF versions lower that V57 I had that one more or less sorted.

1). I can't see an easy way to reset NoScript back to a default set of rules
2). I can't see how to delete an entry from the configuration.
3). I can't see how to make a backup or restore an configuration.

Is there a way to show default rules in a different way to user added rules?

I assume trusted means allow any type of operation from the selected site and http/https options are or can be different.

Somtimes when I look at the custom option some items are shown in "brown" I assume these are the items that are being asked for but currently not allowed?

Again sometimes when I look at the custom option nothing is highlighted - so what is going on there?

Thanks for any pointers.

1.Close Firefox. Delete the file storage-sync.sqlite from your firefox profile folder. On the next restart the file will be restored with default values.
2. Setting the rule to default will delete it from the config on the next page reload.
3.You can show the debug log by checking the box next to "debug" in the options. Copying the whole output and pasting it at a later date restores the settings. (this might not work across versions), alternatively you should be able to backup the storage-sync.sqlite file and restore it (haven't checked that, might equally not work across versions, but more likely that it does.
I assume trusted means allow any type of operation from the selected site and http/https options are or can be different.
Default, untrusted and trusted can be configured to specifically apply to chosen types of operations (for all domains assigned to these presets) like custom, with the difference that custom is stored per domain individually.

https/http behaves a bit differently depending on whether you create a explicit URL rule, or a root domain wide rule (rules starting with https/http or rules that start with [...page] respectively.
explicit domain rules apply specifically to http(s) depending on which rule you create, domain wide rules apply to either https only, or https and http both.

I don't think we have explicit feedback on what the background colour-sheme of the checkboxes mean exactly.

You may have a look here https://forums.informaction.com/viewtop ... =8&t=23713 and here https://forums.informaction.com/viewtop ... 105#p92105

as a rule of thumb actually, keep the eyes open as the early versions behave a little different. i.e. in using "trusted".on the first click the 10.1.3.c3 does a "temporarily allow (trusted)" (which i like) and other versions don't.
