I have been using FF almost with the same parameters. But suddenly when this site http://wifi-defender.com did not display I found this 127.0.0.1 listed in NS and temporary allowed it .The site loaded but 127.0.0.1 was not available in the NS of that page/ tab , though available (as temp permission) in other tabs after a forced /automatic? reload of all the tabs.
Next I permanently forbid 127.0.0.1 and all the site seemed to work fine including the problematic one and NS did not find it necessary to list the 127 .0...entry. Perhaps some internal loop back affair is causing this non-serious issue. Searched for the issue in NS and did not find any post so far...

I don't want to make accusations without good evidence, but it's not clear to me what that product actually does. I already have AES-256 encryption on my LAN, and ABE protects against WAN-LAN attacks. The invitation for "free network test" wants to download and run an executable file, which seems almost like an invitation to let an intruder enter. Probably why it wanted to contact the loopback address.

As for their photograph of what it does, Windows "View Available Wireless Networks" (r-click on wireless systray icon and choose) already shows the insecure or security status of all networks in range, including your own if you allow SSID broadcast. My router glows orange when sending encrypted signals, and white if that were ever not the case. Hard to see what need is being fulfilled here.

Mywot.com has *zero* info on this site, which is not encouraging. Searching the Web didn't show any independent reviews. I would use caution.

Of course, a verifiable representative of the company is welcome to provide more information than the near-zero given at the site.
