Few others had this error as I've read. Their solution didn't help me out:
I'm using FlashGot 1.4.8.1 in Firefox 14.0.1 on Windows 7 64bit.
I've made plenty use of the FLashGot Media icon in the add-on bar. Since a couple of days (firefox update? Flashgot update? who knows?) the icon has disappeared on EVERY PAGE.
It is not appearing on any page that plays videos or music.
However, Ctrl+F7 enables the download query. Which doesn't help me if there are several media files on one page to choose from.
Restarting firefox or re-installing flashgot didn't help.
Icon in about:config is true.
Am grateful for any advise that actually refers to what I've written and helps me out.

Re: No FlashGot Icon in add-on bar [flashgot media]
Have you checked your options to make sure the menus are being displayed and also have you tried customizing your toolbar and putting it back?

Re: No FlashGot Icon in add-on bar [flashgot media]
Hey Guardian, thank you for your reply.
I checked the options. Most of the boxes are checked (including "FlashGot Media").
My FlashGot is linked to my getright download Manager. Which had been working flawlessly ever since.
I customized the addon bar and added a FlashGot Icon - but it is not the "GlashGot Media" icon which I used to download media files from websites (or used to choose from media downloads).
Are there any known overrides by recent flash updates?
Or known conflicts with common addons such as Noscript, CookieMonster, Adblock or Greasemonkey?

Re: No FlashGot Icon in add-on bar [flashgot media]
Not that I know of my friend, that's why I asked if you checked. BTW, I wasn't clear, when I said check I meant the menu section of Flashgot options. So to make sure I get your problem completely, when normally a media would be detected and the the "video" icon would show up flashing and allowing you to get the items, that's not coming up right? Or is it something else? If that's the case, where did it use to show up originally?
I mean I personally used to have that show up in the addon-bar and then decided that when it showed up, I went to customize while it was present and grabbed it and moved it to another toolbar and now it shows up there which I prefer because I often collapse the addon-bar and would like to still see it. So I know when a media is detected, it shows up SOMEWHERE unless something went horribly wrong in the profile or something edited it out of the interface scheme. Next time you go to a place where you know for sure there is a detected item, pause for a second and click on customize your toolbar while you KNOW it should be displaying and see if it shows up in the raw form under customize or not, if it does and was removed by some freaky reason, then just grab it and put it back.
/edit: all else fails, do it the brute force way, uncheck the FG media option, save the settings, restart your browser, then go back and add it back again and see if that resets it and makes it show up again.

Holy canneloni!
That's it! That was it!
You were right - the icon did exist, but it was moved to a different (switched off) bar (the bookmarks bar).
Now I moved it back where it belongs and can enjoy downloading all media from the internetz again =)
Thank you very much, Guardian!
