FlashGot doesn't work for this?

Hi,

whenever i right click the download link and press "flashgot" a file called download.php is downloaded... this is not the file that I wanted to download... here is the link http://bit.ly/Q6ASEh If someone would help me solve the problem or just tell me whats in the .txt file that would be much appreciated

Well, idk much about how to use this program... but i right-click on regular download and then click FlashGot Link. The firefox default download window opens up and it downloads a file called "download.php" when the file is supposed to be a .txt file and has a different name

File hosters will use an intermediate code to manage it and that means when you try to directly do that, you may not have been given the HTTP stream by their implementation, so that means you get the serving file instead of the file you want. If it was a straight up or direct HTTP download, it would work just fine.

You have an option for regular and premium download and the site has a poor reputation and the more I look at it, the more I am feeling this is just a spam post because unlike other hosting services where you choose the regular download and it pauses for a while but the delivers, this is just popping up a survey list and gimmicks to do and seems like an endless dog and pony show. So there is nothing legit here to get, that's why you are getting crap and that's not a FlashGot issue and it won't work in this situation due to the asinine setup of the site.

You have to have premium or if you choose regular, you get a survey list. Then you are supposed to pick a survey and complete it and then it goes to another page, then you have to do another and another and eventually it gets to the file. This is at best a scam or spam site, doubtful it has anything useful in there or they make it intentionally painful to use free so that people sign up. You are on your own on this. Either jump through their hoops or move on, there is no way to use FG for this crap.

Can you please tell me if flashgot can download through surveys? I saw a video of a guy doing that, but i dont know how to do it... If you can download it, please tell me how.

Not sure what you mean by that.
Unless that bogus "survey" that you need to take before you can "get" the actual download link.

It may not be unusual that a "free" (or not) download site will not allow a download manager, requiring a "browser built in" download instead. And if a download manager is used, you get some minimal download instead of what you're looking for. Might be empty of might be an html page saying, "no download manager" kind of thing. Perhaps related to GET or PUT (am I thinking correctly, if not two other XXX or YYY's) that may or may not be supported by a particular download manager.

And any time I have come across any download site that requires a "survey" or the like, or even any time I come across a download site that is too onerous, I just skip it entirely, as I did in this case.

I have seen that too, but believe it is their method to make money.

@therube, the problem with this site, as I mentioned, is that they have this bogus and ridiculous hoop of the survey to complete BEFORE you get to the link. When you get there, you can probably download with FG but most likely with buit-in only, but either way you have to get there first before you can do it, nothing wrong with FG and its not our issue or on our side.
