Middle-click is set up to open a link in a new tab on my system. Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard.

When NS is enabled, I can no longer open links by middle-click. I have to right-click and then choose "Open in new tab" from the context menu. Is there a way to stop this behavior?

I have a strange similar problem with middle clicks and I don't know if it is a NS issue. What I get is when I middle click it doubles or multiplies the paste. I am going to put this on my endless to-do list and see what the heck is causing this one. Hmmmmm...

Middle Click opens links in a new tab with NS running in this system: XP Home SP3, Ms Generic HID 3-button Mouse driver.

Possible workaround while you're looking for a permanent fix:
CTRL/Left Click should open links in a new tab - easier than context clicking and selecting actions.

Middle clicks are hardware based and have nothing to do with NoScript as it has no reason to care.

So links are not opening at all on middle-click?

What mouse, what driver version?


(The pref browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick would determine if a middle-click would open in a new tab, or window.)

Thanks for replying. What you say is probably true, but middle-click works when NoScript is disabled, immediately stops working when NS is enabled.

Don, on the face of it, you are right, it seems it might be affected by NS. But I am going to say coincidence. I believe whatever IS in fact blocking this is incidentally exposed by NS and therefore when you take it out of the equation, it seems to resolve the issue. Maybe your mouse vendor has some weird special scroll or function that they inject using overlays into applications and in Fx it is somehow coming to clash with NS and breaks it. Do you happen to have that asinine Logitech control center, whatever its called, installed to run on the system tray and as a service when you installed the drivers? If so, my money is almost 100% on that. I recently had to replace my mouse (after using this trackball for almost 12 years) and right off the bat I plug in this new bluetooth mouse and it surely installed this massively and unnecessary crap center of stuff and it started causing me problems with all kinds of stuff. So I just went to the registry and just whacked all traces of it from my system and left the residual stuff in case the driver needs it but the interface is GONE and so are my problems. Its a shame when a company tries to shove their crap onto people, like HP's print center. ARGH! I wish they would stick to just hardware and leave the software layer to the ones who know what they are doing.
