Confirmed (25%, 1 of 4 cores, in my case).
(Oddly SeaMonkey was only using ~12% CPU.)

Additionally, "quitting" FF fails, with FF hung in memory, consuming CPU until killed.
(Quitting is not always an issue, or at least not always in SeaMonkey.)

FF 14.0.1
or
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:16.0) Gecko/16.0 Firefox/16.0 SeaMonkey/2.13a2
Build identifier: 20120717013003

The value of plugins.click_to_play looks to be immaterial.

Confirmed and I got similar problem with niconico Douga (Japanese famous video site) from 7/12

However I'm not sure, it seems the problem arose after Bug 760625 was landed.

Link to "niconico Douga" & is a login required?

The value of plugins.click_to_play looks to be immaterial.
Perhaps that is on a current build.

With an older build, it looks like it needs to be toggled true to duplicate.

http://www.nicovideo.jp/(only Japanese)
And unfortunately, yes, this site need registration...

(Niconico Douga has English services separately from Japanese services. I didn't test it...)

OK, this one really sucks, because you can be hit hard, "in the wild".
Additionally, "quitting" FF fails, with FF hung in memory, consuming CPU until killed.
And even more so because of that, because after kill & restart, most likely you will have lost your Session Restore.

New Profile
Install NoScript
NoScript Options | Embeddings, Apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too
<value of plugins.click_to_play is immaterial in a current build>
Load URL
Click the placeholder

At the least, CPU usage.
And worse, hang in memory.
Worse yet, most likely no Session Restore after process kill & restart.

(The lack of Session Restore on restart would be obvious to you if it happens. If there could be other types of data loss or corruption ... unknown?)

Until resolved, I'd suggest setting:> noscript.smartClickToPlay;false

about:config
filter 'clicktoplay'
set its value to "false"

You'll get a double prompt on media, but that is better then the alternative.

Another random site that I came across that also causes the problem, http://www.awbury.org/.

(Came across that site by opening random links from, http://www.randomwebsite.com/.)

And another, a bit more common perhaps, Amazon Music: Thick As a Brick 2.

(BTW, not nearly as good as the original. And I see CSN has done the same. At least Ian has new music.)
