Google continues to wend its way, into more and more sites as they seek to track every move their users make.

Normally, I keep google.com ALWAYS forbidden - especially when doing searches.

When I use Gmail, however, it is necessary to allow google.com temporarily.

I have already set the options so that existing search tabs don't reload when I enable google.com for Gmail, so my question is NOT about reloading.

Instead, I would like google.com to be allowed for the ONE tab that has Gmail, but NOT allowed on ANY other tabs - existing or yet to be opened - so that, when I do searches, those pages do NOT come up with my Gmail name, but so they think I still need to log in.

Any ideas? Can NoScript do this? If not, is there something else (maybe a GreaseMonkey script) that can do it?

If you logged into Google, then you are logged in into Google (and therefore you will e.g. get personalized Google search), no matter whether scripts are allowed or not AFAIK.
What matters are cookies, you might be able to do something with the "Anonymize" command of ABE, get some add-on that gives you precise cookie-controlling power (e.g. depending on the top-level site), or going even further have an entirely separate browser profile for Gmail.

Thank you for your reply. You have pretty much confirmed what I had thought. I also did look for GreaseMonkey scripts that could do the trick, but didn't find any.

The idea of using a different browser is probably the best, easiest and most-secure solution. For now, I'll try just using Epiphany for Gmail and keep Firefox for everything else. If Epiphany doesn't work out, for some reason, I'll try Chromium or Chrome.

EDIT:
For the record, Chromium handled adblocking, etc. better than Epiphany did, so I'm now keeping a separate Chromium window open, just for Gmail, and doing all the rest of my browsing in Firefox so Google searches will NEVER pick up on my Gmail login.

Do as you choose, I certainly wouldn't want to miss NoScript, even when just for Gmail (which I BTW access through a mail-client, yes I am that old-fashioned, people preferring webmails is one of the reasons Mozilla today announced that they are not going to invest much in Thunderbird anymore).
Oh, and speaking of secure solutions, you might want to update your Firefox.

Actually, I do most of my email via Thunderbird, but have a few Gmail accounts for which I prefer to use the web interface.

As long as my Thunderbird will still work, I'll keep using it. I certainly won't switch to Outlook just because Thunderbird development stops. Well, I can't, anyway, since Outlook won't run on Linux (unless, perhaps, I were to use Wine, but the whole purpose of using Linux is NOT to use Windows - Wine or not).

As for old fashioned, I've been in the industry for 34 years and used to do email from the Unix command line until I started using Elm (which also let me edit the emails with vi).

Who knows? I may decide to use a client for these other accounts, after a while. I just don't want to add them to my current Thunderbird because I have so many in there already.

I'll update Firefox soon. Just haven't done the build, yet. Since Debian is always behind on Iceweasel and Icedove, I just bagged those a long time ago and compile the latest Firefox and Thunderbird myself.

Yes, it would. So would RequestPolicy, if you're willing to go the whole hog and control all cross-site requests.
