I am using Firefox 5.0 and have not applied any browser updates so far.
I installed NoScript at the time I upgraded to firefox 5.0, some time ago.
Several times I have found when opening the browser that NoScript would
be gone (not just the icon missing from the toolbar where it usually is, but
totally gone, not installed at all) I would reinstall but after a certain amount
of time this would happen again.
How can I prevent this from happening?

Updating to the newest officially supported version of all software involved is one point on my general bug-fix checklist.
Also, you might want to take a look at the following list: http://www.mozilla.org/security/known-v ... refox.html

Re: NoScript randomly uninstalls
NoScript NEVER EVER just uninstalls itself. Its either a profile corruption or something else happening with your extensions management that is making it feel that way. You might also have an addon or a malware that is screwing with it. However, on its own, NS will never and has never just uninstalled itself and has no functional reason to do so.
I might suggest you check your paths, installation permissions and so on and find out what environmental factors might be interfering as the extension itself will not and does not do anything you are describing.

It is not a question of "extensions management" (in this case installing NoScript as per instructions and restarting the browser),
and it is not a question of something "making it feel that way". No Script vanishes from my browser randomly, it is not becoming
hidden or "feeling" some way, it is gone. This happened again when I started my browser a minute ago.
The only addon I have is NoScript, My paths are the default paths for firefox installation/operation, There are no issues with
installation permissions, and there are no malware/environmental factors present. As I have donated to NoScript, I find it annoying
that everytime I start up my browser there is a good chance that NoScript will not be protecting me.
Do not bother with any sort of replies, as I will not be coming back to this forum to read them.

But someone else with a similar issue may very well read this thread, so I will reply anyway.tm wrote:GµårÐïåñ wrote:NoScript NEVER EVER just uninstalls itself. One possibility is profile corruption. It happens. Create a clean profile from scratch, then reinstall NoScript and see if the problem still persists.
Another possibility, though not likely, is a conflict with an anti-virus or firewall tool, especially those that try to be "all things in one" - firewall, AV, anti-malware, e-mail scanner, etc. I have had some such scanning tools give a couple of false positive "potentially unwanted programs" on programs that I very much wanted. If it were configured to remove or block them automatically....
Your donation is very much appreciated. However, we provide free support to all users, and do not know who or who hasn't donated.
I hope very much that you will reconsider, and continue troubleshooting this issue until it is resolved.
However, as dhouwn pointed out, NoScript can't protect you completely when run on a browser that has more than two dozen known Critical or High security vulnerabilities. Some of those may be exploitable outside of NoScript's purview.
