Cannot upload

Post by dgermann »

Hi--

Just the other day upgraded to Firefox 10.0. Can no longer upload.

System: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Browser: FireFox 10.0
NoScript: 2.2.9
Where I have tried uploading: Facebook, using both regular uploader and basic uploader; Dropbox, using both regular uploader and basic uploader.

Facebook complained about Flash, if I remember correctly.
Dropbox gives an Error (500) and NoScript pops up a yellow box on top that reads: "NoScript filtered a potential cross-site scripting (XSS) attempt from [https://www.dropbox.com]. Technical details have been logged to the Console."

The Console entry which I think might be the one (it would be nice if they were time stamped, yes?) reads:
Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIURI.host]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///usr/lib/firefox-10.0/extensions/ubufox@ubuntu.com/components/ufoxHTTPListener.js :: <TOP_LEVEL> :: line 64" data: no]
Source File: file:///usr/lib/firefox-10.0/extensions/ubufox@ubuntu.com/components/ufoxHTTPListener.js
Line: 64
Since this is happening generally on uploads, I am wondering if this is a bug, or an incompatibility with FF?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Maybe it's not NoScript. I disabled NoScript and still cannot upload on either of these sites.

Anybody able to point me in a good direction?

Thanks!

(I don't think that was the appropriate Error Console message for the XSS error.)

Code: Select all

ubufox@ubuntu.com
That's the Ubuntu integration extension. AFAIK, it serves many purposes like making Firefox integrate better into Unity and enable it to use the system dictionaries.

They are in Firefox 11 which is currently in the beta stage. You can install it from the official beta PPA: ppa:mozillateam/firefox-next

Console² also timestamps & can be installed, now ;-).

therube--

Thanks! Have tried safemode, but still no joy on either Facebook or Dropbox.

Thanks for the info about timestamps in the new version.

What am I looking for in the console messages then?

dhouwn--

Thanks! I think ubufox is disabled in safemode, so that is likely not the culprit.

Any other things I might try to find some clues?

OK, I just tried using the Epiphany Browser (2.30.2) from this same computer to upload and had no problem on Facebook.
