Is Hackademix web site down?

Post by Tom T. »

Getting only a blank page at http://hackademix.net, in Fx 7.01, 3.6.23, and even 2.0.0.20, for about the past hour.
Whitelisted in NS and RequestPolicy.
All other of Giorgio's sites working fine - maone.net, informaction.com, noscript.net.

Related to the move to a new server?

Anyone else getting this? -- perhaps depends on country of origin, or ISP? I'm in USA, and my ISP has never blocked that site and has no reason to, AFAIK.

Yes, it was down.

Looking at the logs, something weird happened: the web server stopped to see the virtual host files ("file not found") while other virtual hosts kept running just fine.
I would have said either a file system or a permissions issue, except that just restarting the web server process restored everything to normal.

Quite puzzled, still investigating.

It may also have something to do with why there has been a HUGE influx of oss.informaction links being notified through email than forums.informaction and when you log in with credentials on the oss, it won't retain it either, so ever time you try to access the post it will force a login and go in circles. I reported it in PM but wasn't sure in the mix of being busy if you actually caught it or saw it or anything came of it. Just a bit more to look into in case it helps.

I think the OP issue was an old issue from the server being moved, but yes, I too saw some scripts from oss.informaction.com in the menu once recently, but not again. Was going to investigate, but couldn't reproduce.

Also noticed that sometimes, logging in in response to one email notification wasn't holding -- clicking the link in the next e-mail a few minutes later (while supposedly still logged in) gave a login prompt - again. Can't correlate with anything yet. Sometimes involves the private forum, but not always.

So, what is oss.informaction?

oss.informaction is a failover/backup/mirror server that for all intents and purposes should be using the same virtual path on the server but due to some values that depend on the actual URL, this can cause major headache and inconsistencies. It was first introduced when his provider went down and he had to setup a temporary parallel and it has been hounding us since. Usually on the older posts, but still. That's my take, anything further than that and Giorgio can elaborate if he wants.
