How to stop a download(s)?

Hi, I recently installed FlashGot for firefox and started 2 downloads but would like to cancel them.
Uninstalling FlashGot does not seem to stop current downloads (It starts again once i delete the files, and there is a loading bar in my Firefox taskbar). Whatsmore these downloads are taking a large part of my bandwith. Please help me.
