Silent automatic upgrade?

Is there a way to make the NoScript upgrades happen silently, so Firefox will just start up and not give students an opportunity to select to not install an upgrade?

This is probably a Firefox issue rather than NoScript, but NoScript is the only plugin in the library being used. The only item which seems relevant in the NoScript FAQ is a mention of MR Tech's updating tool, but I didn't see anything in its description which seemed relevant.

On Firefox 4 and above add-on updates happen silently by default.
On Firefox 3.6 and below you get the startup confirmation window which, unfortunately, can't be skipped (removing it has been considered a usability win in Fx 4).

The NS automatic update is a good option though I recommend that NS should ask for user permission before restart of browser is done....it so happens that one s in the middle of work and the browser closes and restarts automatically...thereby all the unsaved work is gone.....Any options available....pls.comment....

@SEWilco

You could try disabling extension updates altogether & manually updating by copying the NoScript xpi (named as {73a6fe31-595d-460b-a920-fcc0f8843232}.xpi) into (each) Profile/extensions/ directory.

And if you disabled the NoScript notification on updates, users wouldn't even see that.

(Browsers would have to be closed when you push the updates ...)

This should never happen; see http://forums.informaction.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9094. Your browser should never restart without prompting you, and NoScript certainly doesn't do it. You might want to check your Addon Manager settings, and maybe try a clean profile.
