[RESOLVED] Google and Noscript

Until now the only problem I've had with Noscript was figuring out which scripts to allow. But since this morning I got a really odd problem, my Google searches don't work. When I enter them and press enter the search page URL is shown in the address bar but the page isn't loaded. It took some troubleshooting but the culprit seems to be Noscript since only disabling the addon seems to make it work again. What is really odd is that Noscript doesn't show that any scripts are blocked whatsoever, and allowing scrips globally doesn't work.

Did Google add some code which Noscript doesn't handle or what?

There are two scripts allowed according to Noscript, gstatic.com and google.se (I'm from Sweden, but google.com doesn't work either), but no scripts blocked.

Am I alone with this problem?

I'm using the American version of Firefox 4.0.1 and Noscript 2.1.0.3.

Can you please enable the error console (you might need to flip the "devtools.errorconsole.enabled" switch at "about:config"), open it and watch if there are any possibly related messages?

I've found out that if I forbid google.se it works, but also of course as I mentioned earlier if I disable Noscript completely. And since all scripts are allowed when the addon is disabled I find this a very odd error.

There are a lot of errors when loading the page, like these:
Warning: Unknown property 'zoom'. Declaration dropped.
Source File: http://www.google.se/
Line: 0

Warning: Expected declaration but found '*'. Skipped to next declaration.
Source File: http://www.google.se/
Line: 7

Warning: Error in parsing value for 'filter'. Declaration dropped.
Source File: http://www.google.se/
Line: 7

Warning: Error in parsing value for 'top'. Declaration dropped.
Source File: http://www.google.se/
Line: 7

Quite a few similar ones besides that also. But no errors when entering a search. However, these errors appear also even if I forbid google.se and the search works. So it doesn't seem like the error console is much help here unfortunately.

To Whom It May Concern:

I have encountered the same behavior as described on various computers of mine, all with FF 4.0.x and NoScript as an add-on active. As soon as I disable or remove NoScript, Google works as before.
Have tested some other search engines (BING, MetaCrawler.de) which work perfectly with NoScript active. Since I am depending heavily on NoScript, I should like to see the obvious incompatibility introduced recently removed/fixed.

Thanks.

@captnemo:

Have you got google.de allowed or forbidden?

@both:

does it work on a clean profile with just NoScript installed?
If it does, could you try Standard Diagnostic on your regular profile to see if another extension, when NoScript is present, triggers this problem?

Well I finally got it working again after a lot of fiddling around.

I exported the whitelist, and the settings in general just in case. Then I made printscreens of my Noscript settings and resetted Noscript. Then I imported the whitelist and set everything according to the printscreens. That's everything I did basically.

There weren't any problems with other extensions since in the end I just disabled them all except Noscript. Now I've enabled them again and there's no problem.

Thanks for the help though. :)

I had a lookalike problem google worked from the search engine bar and from the addressbar but not from the resultspage nor using the resultspage as homepage for google.com ; google.be, google.com/ncr, https://google... search engine.
I did a lot of fiddling removing addons, reinstalling changing settings in noscript ... all without result.
finaly I removed in noscript>options>whitelist all non-shadowed names.
closed noscript,
restarted FF and
tada.. problem solved.

hope this helps ...

Could you try NoScript Options|Reset, then adding google.be?

thank you, thank you
well, you're definitely smarter than me ;-)
I didn't remove anything from the list of names.
Just reset noscript,
It worked first time and every time after that.
As a non-believer I rebooted.. it worked again.
I tried www.google.be, www.google.com, www.google.com/ncr

From other forums I visited - and of which I don't have the URL - I know I wasn't the only one with this problem.
Let's just hope they find the way here.

Ok, I'm back to my beloved FF, google and NOSCRIPT.
