[RESOLVED] a full day of NoScript/FF4 hassle

What a day!

Had to uninstall and reinstall FF4 about three times, do a system restore twice, then found out that for some crazy, heretofore never experienced reason, NoScript was screwing with my browser. Finally managed to clean the system and reinstall both FF4 and NoScript...one annoying problem remains, though. While the NoScript icon now *does* appear (it was gone for a long time and add-ons would freeze the browser, don't ask!!), it does not open either to left or right click. I do get "options" when I first log on to a site and can enable java etc...however, once the site is running, the icon seems to be dead. I would not be able to de-activate java or other components.
I have been at this since 6am and it's now 2pm (yep, no life!) Things are at least running now which is great but I'd like to get to the nub of this last problem. Btw, I have completely cleared all history, cache and all personalization and previously installed toolbars and extensions to even be able to get to where I am
Thanks for your help
George

I managed to get No Script back after uninstalling FF4 and re-installing w/out extensions and add ons, BUT the No Script button doesn't work! I get an initial "options" button on each new page but once I enable java etc ("allow this page") the button stays on the toolbar but doesn't function at all (i.e. I cannot re-enable No Script) Happy I got it to work but would like to get this resolved. Ideas?

I don't know why the Options button on your NoScript notification bar doesn't work reliably. I suggest you use the NoScript button instead. You can place it on any of your toolbars, including the Add-on bar if you prefer (
View > Toolbars > Add-on bar).
Select
View > Toolbars > Customize to make the NoScript button movable. If you don't find a button labeled "NoScript" in the "Customize Toolbar" window, it may be hiding in one of the toolbars. It seems to be in the Navigation toolbar by default, just to the left of the address bar.

Thanks, Alan, but the button itself does not work. It's not greyed out but does not react to a click (left or right)

Exactly which button are you talking about? The NoScript button is a toolbar button with the NoScript icon on it. It can't be grayed out. Precisely where is your button located? Please post a screenshot of your situation.

Well, it's a month later now....it was the Yahoo Toolbar all along. As soon as I got rid of it, things started falling back into place. The toolbar was a useful piece of software but not nearly as important as NoScript and it's no big deal surfing w/out it
Thanks
