When you click on a link its takes 30sec to a minute for anything to happen. You use to be able to click links one after another as fast as you wanted to with no problem.
When the bar was added to Firefox is when it started. I'm using Orbit downloader have been for long time. The flashgot problem started after last upgrade. Use firefox 3.6

Last upgrade of FlashGot or Orbit?
Could you check whether it's actually due to latest update by temporarily downgrading (older FlashGot builds are here)?
Maybe your antivirus or personal firewall is adding overhead, could you check if temporarily disabling it restores the normal speed?

If you use (Browser Built In) rather then Orbit, is it still slow?
Are you logged into your Rapidshare account? Clear your cookies, log in to rapidshare, & try again.
(Rapidshare needs https:, though Orbit should support that?)
