I never expected one of my forums would alert me to log in so I could retrieve some spam.
Waste.

I have no idea how "alerts" (or whatever this board may use) work, but would assume that anytime someone has posted into a thread you've subscribed to, you get an alert. The board wouldn't know if it were SPAM or otherwise.

It looks like Bhuhb is complaining about PM spam and had user control panel set to notify him/her when new PMs arrive. Fortunately, those notifications can be turned off, which apparently Bhuhb did. Even more fortunately, I don't recall getting any PM spam on this forum -- yet.therube wrote:I have no idea how "alerts" (or whatever this board may use) work, but would assume that anytime someone has posted into a thread you've subscribed to, you get an alert. Re: Spammed; forced to change the options in my Control Pane
Mr. Baxter infers my situation correctly. And yes, I did tweak my Control Panel settings.
I guess it just seems so ironic that spam should happen on a forum where we discuss our [NoScript] security add-ons.
Most importantly, thanks for letting me vent.
Maybe the moderators will take it under advisement. I understand some things can be helped, and some things can't. But if there's something they can do to improve the system, perhaps future intrusions can be avoided.
It would also help Informaction's credibility.
Tnx

That's completely up to the admin. Giorgio monitors all these topics and makes any changes of that sort.Bhuhb wrote:Maybe the moderators will take it under advisement.
