there is this website that somebody has apparently exploited and they have been able to post unlimited number of reviews down the page, which makes it unlimitedly large.
when a user tries to visit, unless they press the stop button in a few seconds, the page will get extremely big until the browser crashes or becomes non-responsive depending on system resources.


is it possible to add a feature to NoScript to put a reasonable cap on how big can the average page get, without an explicit permission from user??

NoScript could, but it would be overkill.
I could stop the load at any time, after 5, 10 or 30 seconds (at least with NoScript blocking the site).
Are you sure it is some of your extensions pegging your CPU?

are u sure u can u can scroll down substantially after like 20 seconds

i dont know maybe u could cause i am in a virtual machine, with only 1 core and 1GB ram given to the VM

i am not running anything in background on neither host nor the VM.

Core i5-750 quad-core 2.66GHz with 4GB DDR3 1600 memory Snow Leopard Host

VirtualBox VM running almost fresh(1 week old) windows7, on 1 core and 1GB RAM.

everything inside the VM is pretty smooth, i can easily run Office 2007, large powerpoint presentations, multiple browser windows with lots of tabs and ....

of course that's not a clear measure of performance but i think the VM is definitely
more capable than a whole bunch of netbooks and even some 2yr old/week laptops...
which could number in hundreds on millions of users.

let me test it in some other systems and i'll report here>>>
