users are unable to search the stores until allowing the site virtualearth.net in the automatic recently blocked sites , yet this domain is not listed from the left/right click menu at all.

Without allowing it , users will have an error "We apologize for the inconvenience; however, this service is currently unavailable. We will be back up and running shortly, so please try again later. " which thought to be from the server but in fact it is from NoScript .

Unfortunately there's not much NoScript can do about cases like this (the site redirecting to a different page which doesn't try to load the missing script), other than the already implemented "Recently Blocked" menu item, which was actually made with such a scenario in mind.

Though how would one even know to begin to look there?

Is there some correlation between ralphs.com & virtualearth.net that NoScript sees?

And if so, could not NoScript then embolden the virtualearth.net entry when you are on a ralphs.com (or other appropriate) page to help in pointing this out. Or perhpas better yet, embolden the 'Recently blocked sites' menu item itself (too). That way it may become more apparent that the page you are viewing has some blocked content.


Have to say I rarely visit 'Recently blocked sites' as I never really understood what it was for or did. And even now, with a slight understanding, given the message returned by Ralph's, still I would not have thought it to be a NoScript issue. (Though I will give odd site errors more thought in the future.) About the only time I might look in Recently blocked is when I suspect I need googleapis.com. (I believe that is now defaulted to Allowed, but my list is old, & so does not have it.) Certain sites will show google.com, but not googleapis.com until google.com has been Allowed. When I see that, I kind of know it is googleapis.com that I'll end up needing, so I go looking to see if it might show up already (in Recently blocked sites).


(I too kind of seem to recall sites where "store locator" was not "working"?)

Costco shows both costco.com & virtualearth.net, so that one would not have been what I was thinking of.

Probably yes. I didn't check the specific case, but usually the page which imports some script is seen as its "origin".
Either way, I could track back up to the top-level window and record the URL at the top level when the script (or frame) has been blocked, which is more useful, I think, to the average user (being what he can see in the address bar).

Is it possible to detect a js redirect, occurring not on a ui event, and in the presence of blocked (not including untrusted) scripts? It may make sense to have an option to block those.

What is the diference between Attempt to fix JavaScript links and noscript.jsredirectIgnore?

"Attempt to fix" patches javascript: links, links with an onclick inline event handler for navigation purposes and <select> elements (dropdown menus) with a navigational onchange inline event handler.

jsredirectignore prevents NoScript from checking for navigational JavaScript and turning it into links on pages which seem to lack any HTML navigation UI.

@Giorgio Maone : I think another approach is we just need to split/log the "recently blocked sites" into "recently blocked sites on this/per page" . That will help users to decide esp. for people like me who often browse with 10+ tabs
