ABE + CloudMagic = not good

I just installed the new browser plug-in CloudMagic (http://cloudmagic.com/index.php) to speed up Firefox's Gmail search. Because CloudMagic stores its information locally and uses 127.0.0.1 to adjust preferences and sign-in to websites, ABE does not like it. Is there a way to add an exception for CloudMagic?

Thanks

Code: Select all

Site 127.0.0.1:40100
Accept from mail.google.com
... should work. I think that's the only port it uses.

I've just installed CloudMagic today and have the same problem, but I don't understand the answer..... What am I supposed to do with the code in the answer? I have tried copying it into ABE as a USER RULE, and have also tried adding the URL to the WhiteList - neither seems to have worked.

Fixed it now after reading some posts on other issues - copied the code to ABE System Rules.

This is schpuffelbomerous. Users of two essential FF extensions like NoScript and CloudMagic shouldn't have to tinker with rules. The developer of this great NoScript tool, and its promising ABE feature, should whitelist CloudMagic by default.

Or add a simple 'Allow' button when the ABE block notice comes up to automatically add rules for any sites you want an exception to in a fast, friendly way.

Many thanks for the code to allow access to managing Google accounts.

Sorry to be dense, but please could someone post the code needed to enable adding a Twitter account?

Is it twitter.com or something to do with the oath box that Twitter uses?

Many thanks,

Liz

Essential? Never heard of CloudMagic until now. I don't use Google services because of their horrible privacy record - note the lawsuits against them by the EU for violating data privacy rules. If anyone else wants to use them, of course that's each individual's personal choice. (IMHO only, https://ssl.scroogle.org/ , but again, that's a *personal_opinion_only*.) Certainly a tool to search all those things that many users don't use is hardly "essential".

Whereas NoScript is indeed essential if you want to protect your security and privacy, including against Google data-mining.

It's developer Giorgio Maone's call, but my *official* opinion is: No way. Whitelisting takes all of five seconds or two clicks.

See the ABE FAQ for many examples of rules that use 127.0.0.1
