I run Windows XP with Microsoft Security Essentials, and prefer to browse with Firefox. I recently added NoScripts. Today, Microsoft Security Center tells me its Virus Protection is OFF. I cannot get Virus Protection to turn on. Firewall and Automatic Updates remain ON.

Did NoScripts turn Virus Protection off? Microsoft Security Center suggests I turn Virus Protection on, but I can't.

Am I safe from viruses? Does NoScripts protect me from the virus, trojan, etc., threats? If not, what should I do?

NoScript is merely an extension for Firefox written in XUUUUL and Javascript, there is no way it can fondle with your anti-virus, since Fx would first have to offer an interface for doing so.
On top of that and in all seriousness, what sense would it make?!

I don't use Microsoft Security Essentials, so I think you may need to ask Microsoft Security Essentials support for help.

Thanks. I'm not a developer or programmer. Just connected, possibly incorrectly, the addition of NoScripts and Windows Security Center's Virus Protection turning off. Still wondering what my next step is.

Rebooting seems to have fixed the problem. Wish I had thought of that sooner! Thanks for your help.
