Whenever I'm on a site now that NoScript blocks scripts on and I click on NoScript, the entire browser freezes. And after about 10 seconds I get an error message that says (I'm paraphrasing) "A script on this page is running slow. Would you like to stop the script or let it continue." And the link that it shows the script to is something like chrome://blahblahblah/noscript.js or something. So I have to allow scripts globally now if I don't want my browser to freeze whenever I go to block or unblock a script. Anyone else with this issue?

This has recently been linked to a bunch of different extensions and rarely has it ever been NoScript. So if you install the latest version and it keeps happening, then try a few things and get back to us with your results so we can better assist. You might even answer your own question like many do when they take the time to try a few things.

1. Create a clean profile and test the site with it. Does it work? Any hiccups?
2. Add the latest build of NoScript ONLY to this clean profile. Does it work? Any hiccups?

3a. If you find that in step two it works fine, then you need to go back to the profile that its not working on and disable all addons except noscript and then see. Does it work? Any hiccups? Now re-enable the addons ONE AT A TIME to see if the problem occurs, continue until you enable something that breaks it, then you know who your culprit is. You can further narrow it down and test it by re-enabling all of them again, and disable the one you hit a snag with and see if it fixes it and that should confirm the problematic extension.

3b. If you find that in step two it doesn't work fine, then can you provide a link for us where you experience the problem so we can try and see what we can find out.

Also note, some extensions that have content "scanning" like those provided by Avast and similar that look for malicious content might also be slowing your system down depending on the size of the page, so keep that in mind too. If you have any such programs, try disabling them to see if that fixes your problem first. Good luck and keep us posted.

It would be useful to know what exactly it said, for example I just recently had then following when working with many tabs open:

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

I'm sorry, I don't know exactly what you mean by "profile." I have a vague idea, but I'm not sure how to do it with Firefox.

Will try that too. By the way, here's a list of other blocking add-ons that I use:
CookieSafe
FlashBlock
Ghostery
RequestPolicy (I have a feeling this might be the culprit)

Nevermind, I figured out the profile thing. I'm now using a fresh profile, and just installed NoScript. So far, so good. It hasn't frozen anything yet. I'm going to install each of my other plugins one by one and wait to see what happens.

I got it! The culprit is Google Alarm. This add-on makes a noise and puts a notification at the top of the page when you're on a site that sends information to google. I tried NoScript with each of my add-ons, and this is the one that makes it freeze. Lesson Learned = Don't run NoScript & Google Alarm together.

BTW, I am sorry I wasn't clear with how to make a clean profile, I was under the assumption everyone knew, forgive me. You can always call up Firefox by adding the command line element -p and it will kick up the profile selector at which time you can click on the create new profile button and run from there. You already figured it out, so its moot but wanted to tell you just in case.

Hi, great application -
minor error:from all versions I received this "unresponding script" , which slows down browser and computer.
it does not say where and when, and I - what i'd suggest - cannot block this script for future.
i always actualised noscript - but it remains.

"Unresponding script" is from Firefox, not from NoScript, and should show you also information about the script and the line which the script is being stopped at.
Could you show us this info?
