NS crashing the browser in Fx 3.6.6

Post by spamgirl »

It actually was also happening in 3.0.19, which is why I upgraded in the first place. I had to repair windows and when I got back in, Fx was crashing on certain websites. I disabled all my plug-ins and the sites work fine until I enabled NS 1.9.9.81. I tried upgrading to 1.9.9.99 but the sites still crash.

A few sites it's happening on:
http://www.cbc.ca/contests/
http://www.besthealthmag.ca/contests
http://promos.ytv.com/

All I do is visit and it crashes immediately.

I don't see any error messages because the browser totally crashes.

I deleted the 3 extensions files as mentioned in another post, still the same problem.

The problem was having AVG Safe Search and NoScript running at the same time - on the sites mentioned if I only run one, it's fine. Run both and the problems appear.

Then the bug is very likely on AVG's side, since NoScript has no binary component which can crash.

It _IS_ on AVG's side, this has been happening for a while and they know about it and they keep suggesting people uninstall NoScript which is very very bad advise and simply shows they might be intentionally make it incompatible to make people choose or remove NoScript, which I think needs to be addressed frankly. They can't do that and people should realize that having NS is FAR MORE important than that half ass extension from AVG which has been going downhill for years by getting more and more bloated, more and more slow, and frankly unstable.
