[FIXED] NoScript and XMarks

Just got a noscript auto update today, 3 July 2010, now I cannot add xmarks to whitelist and its blocked
How to fix?

If you can't add login.xmarks.com is most likely because xmarks.com is already in your whitelist, and this implies login.xmarks.com.
If it doesn't work, please try using
NoScript Options|Reset, then adding login.xmarks.com and restarting the browser.

xmarks.com is in the whitelist listing, but I am still getting this msg in a pop-up box.
<div class="outer"> <div class="inner"> <h1>Xmarks Login Problem</h1> <p class="bottom-closer">Please whitelist the following Xmarks login server in your NoScript settings:</p> <p class="domain">login.xmarks.com</p> <p>And restart your Firefox browser.</p> <p>Press Escape to close this window.</p> </div> </div>
And the 'allow' box is disabled even if I add the text in the entry box.
I have a rather extensive history in the whitelist, will I lose that if a reset is done?

Since xmarks.com is already whitelisted, login.xmarks.com is already allowed too. The popup message seems to be mistaken.

Yes, a reset will reset your whitelist too. Export your whitelist before following Giorgio's instructions. Then import your whitelist.
Edit: I just verified I can login to Xmarks and synchronize if xmarks.com is allowed in NoScript. If you're still having problems after following the instructions above, clear your cache and remove any xmarks cookies.

I have the same problem here since the xmarks update... It worked perfectly before, now it doesn't anymore. Everything is already white-listed... Even if I reset noscript and put xmarks back in. No success...

Since my Xmarks has no login problem in the current Firefox with just the latest Xmarks and NoScript extensions installed, I'm afraid you're going to have to do some troubleshooting to find out what's causing your problem.
1)
General Troubleshooting Instructions
2) What happens if you temporarily disable all extensions except NoScript and Xmarks?
3) What happens if you create a new test profile that has only NoScript and Xmarks installed?

I give up, I read another response on the Hungarian forum but this seems to be a problem effect a lot of people. I hope Xmarks figures out how to patch this

Here are the things to check:
* If you're using NoScript, make sure you have whitelisted both xmarks.com (or login.xmarks.com) and googleapi.com.
* Make sure you have enabled Javascript in Firefox (there's a checkbox on the Content pane of Firefox's options/preferences dialog).
* If you're using the extension RequestPolicy, there are also some white-list additions you'll have to do, but we don't yet have details -- perhaps a RequestPolicy user can chime in.
Are there any other extensions that people are using to block Javascript or prevent pages from loading content? I would be surprised if AdBlock+ causes problems here.

Try disabling noscript and performing a sync without noscript once, then re-enable it. Works fine for me after having to log in with the new version.

Probably this: googleapis.com is included in the default whitelist of
recent NoScript version, therefore if you're a longtime NoScripter you won't have it whitelisted, but if you install a current NoScript on a fresh
profile you get it automatically.
So I guess XMarks people tested a fresh NoScript installation and forgot to mention googleapis.com because it was "magically" allowed.
To recap:
If the XMarks wizard says you've got to enable some script, or worse, it comes as HTML source,
Allow xmarks.com AND googleapis.com.
You can do either in NoScript Options|Whitelist or from the "Recently Blocked" NoScript submenu, if the XMarks wizard already run.

For me, the OP, xmarks worked again after the export, reset, import, but I had a heck of a time with the re-import because the default filter selected for the importable files, said the directory I saved it in was totally empty, but it probably has over a thousand files actually in it. Once that was cleared to a show all, then it worked. googleapis.com was/is in that whitelist also.

Eek! What a heart stopper! I just double-checked: on my Windows XP SP3 computer, the whitelist export appended ".txt" to the file name I supplied; then the Import looked only for files that ended in ".txt". If the exported whitelist hadn't ended in ".txt", then it wouldn't have been listed and I would have had to change the import dialog to show all files, like you did. I don't have a Linux box to test on, so I imagine the details were a little different for you. It's good that you figured it out.

do have RequestPolicy. Seems Xmarks has significantly changed the way it carries out the login procedure.
