pre layout of placeholders on background tabs

Post by al_9x »

I may have mentioned this before, don't quite remember.

If you open a bunch of backgound tabs scrolled to a particular anchor (e.g. forum threads), when you switch to them and there happen to be placeholders above, the page will jerk/shift/scroll as placeholders are created and laid out. That can get annoying if it keeps happening on tab after tab.

Is it possible to avoid this visible shifting due to placeholder layout? Perhaps by doing the placeholder layout on a timer in the background and then re-scrolling the page, so that by the time you switch to it it's all done and positioned.
