Maybe a strange request, but could the webpage get adapted to hide the "donate" button for people (IP addresses? cookies?) who made a donation. Now I feel the urge to check how long ago my donation was (I think it's still less then a year). Of course this could be limited in time and/or amount.

Mmmm, I guess not.
It's quite hard if not impossible to correlate, since transactions happen on Paypal's site and (rightly so) Paypal doesn't share any network-level detail with the recipient (no IP, no cookie).
