Firefox prevented this page from automatically reloading

I just upgraded to v1.9.9.81, the latest, and suddenly, Firefox is showing messages such as:
"Firefox prevented this page from automatically reloading"
"Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page"
Under Tools > Options > Advanced, "Warn me when web sites ..." is turned off, yet I see these messages.
Could it be related to NoScript?

Yes it is.
Refreshes are automatically blocked for background (non focused) tabs which are not whitelisted.
This is meant to prevent
scriptless tabnabbing variants, see

I understand.
Perfect, I like the feature.
Needless to say, if I click ALLOW it will go in the whitelist and I won't be asked again for that particular domain.
Correct?

Nope. Currently you can add sites manually, in the
noscript.forbidBG.exceptions about:config preference.
However, the automated behavior you're describing is actually desirable and will be probably added in a future release (this feature has been implemented in less than 1 day).

Notice: this feature is probably going to be much less invasive and more automated in next release, follow the discussion here:

How? Obviously just adding a space and then the URL of the site doesn't do the trick.
Whenever I click "allow", it'll do the refreshing as long as I keep the tab focussed. As soon as I leave, I get that damn bar again, for a site which I do not want to put on any other whitelist. All I want is the frequently updated title for that tab, which I don't get if that thing isn't allowed to refresh.
So, how do I make this exception list work?

There's a typo in the pref's implementation. It should be fixed in the next release. Until then use noscript.forbidGBRefresh.exceptions instead.

Thanks, that did the trick.
I'm somewhat glad that things like this (making a typo go productive) don't only happen to me ...

You're welcome.

I always say: "Thank goodness for our customers, i.e. beta testers."

I was not aware, that a page can refresh without the intervention of scripts. Nevertheless. The new forbidRefresh function has impacts on the active focus. I always see the blocking message, when I for example click into the navigation bar of news.google.de. I tried the values 1 and 3 for noscript.forbidBGRefresh without success. Only the value 0 is working. But here the complete function is disabled.
I'd like to get the complete refresh disabled on any tab without any notification. And it tooks me a long way to focus out, what the message "Firefox has blocked..." exactly means. Could this be changed in "NoScript has blocked...", to better identify the source for this problem?

I think it may work differently in NoScript 1.9.9.82, Dirk. Could you try 1.9.9.82 and let us know what you think about it?

Version 1.9.9.82 is much better. Now the focus tab automatically reloads without a notification. Good work, Alan

Ups. Now there is another problem with version 1.9.9.82. If I am on news.google.de and enter another address in the link field, I temporary switch to the new site, bus shortly after this I get the google page back.

Please check

Now the focused tab only reloads when I switch to it (without notification) and I gan also access other sites in this tab.
But: If I enter a word instead of a complete address, e.g. "kjsahdfkjsahkd", it will not be used as a search criterium and the old page refreshes. When I use noscript.forbidBGRefresh=0, I get the results of google. If I enter a word, that I used before, it seems to work, maybe, because it's in the search focus of firefox itself.
