Bug kills firefox - looks like process not ending

I'm running Firefox 3.6.3, latest version of noscript that's automatically served, on windows XP. Just moved from Mcafee to Norton viruscan.
In the process, firefox will not start most of the time. Looks like its a process not terminating properly. I did a clean install of firefox, it loaded fine. Now I'm loading my extensions back in. Noscript is the first, because its so useful. Looks like its the problem too, as the problem seems to have re-occurred.
So it seems like there is some bug between noscript, firefox, and Norton which stops firefox processes from ending. (I can force the restart of firefox by manually stopping the firefox process in windows task manager, so it seems pretty clear the process is the issue)
I also got some script errors relating to noscript at startup just now - no idea what they mean, as first time I've seen them.
Thanks for all help - this is the limit of my tech knowledge...
