no script & java banner code , probably a dumb question....

Post by jdjdov »

Hi all. I'm hoping a no script guru can answer a question for me. below is some affiliate banner code. I have the no java boxed ticked on the embeddings option in no script, does this mean that no script will block this banner, or the tracking of this banner?

If so, what exactly does it block? - or have i misunderstood?

<script type="text/javascript">
var uri = 'http://impgb.tradedoubler.com/imp?type( ... a(1386060)' + new String (Math.random()).substring (2, 11);
document.write('<a href="http://clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click?p=1 ... g=17913414" target="_BLANK"><img src="'+uri+'" border=0></a>');
</script>
</p>

thanks in advance,

J

This particular example is just embedded JavaScript. JavaScript is not Java. The settings on the Embedded pane don't affect JavaScript. To block that script, it's necessary and sufficient to not Allow the web page's site from the NoScript menu.

Hi Tom,

thanks for the reply.

I don't want to block the banner / site. I want to make sure it gets through but I am concerned that my no script settings are blocking the tracking info in the code in some way?

cheers

As far as I can tell, checking Forbid Java or any of the other options in NoScript Options > Embeddings will not block your tracker. But NoScript won't run the tracker's javascript unless the user Allows your site from the NoScript menu.
