locallinks: permit only some domains

Post by azuerch »

If I activate Allow Local Links in the Thrusted Tab, NoScript allows local links from all domains. How can I restrict this to only one or few domains?

I fond an article http://kb.mozillazine.org/Links_to_loca ... _and_newer, but this method does not work when NoScript is enabled. If I disable NoScript, the described method works fine.

Unluckily CAPS matching algorithm allows a certain site to belong to one single policy at most.
Therefore, if you're using NoScript you can either grant the local file linking policy to all the sites in the whitelist (which is what the NoScript option you mentioned do) or, much less convenient, manually maintain your local links policy adding the JavaScript execution rights to it as well and taking care that sites which are enlisted in it do not appear in NoScript's "maonoscript" policy.
Notice that, this way, even though sites in the "locallinks" policy are allowed to run JavaScript, they will be misrepresented as forbidden by NoScript.

I did not knew that this option depends on the whitelist. May be it would be a good idea to place a short remark on the gui?

Thank you for the answer.

It's in the "Trusted" tab, whose header says "Additional permissions for trusted sites" :)

Ok. This is the english Version. The german one is "Positivliste" (english Thrusted) and "Vertrauenswürdige Websites"...
Localisation is an advanced business and moch more than just translating words. Maybe somebody can straighten this?

Could you suggest what needs to be changed and how?
Thanks.

Solution A:
A new text string should be added to the Thrusted Tab:

(EN)
Additional permissions for trusted sites (existing text)
Trusted sites must be added to the Whitelist (new text)

(DE)
Zusätzliche Berechtigungen für vertrauenswürdige Websites
Vertrauenswürdige Websites müssen in der Positivliste aufgeführt sein

Solution B:
Like Solution A, but create a link (like in the Untrusted Tab) that guides the user to the Whitelist.

Solution C:
Rename the tab Whitelist to Trusted sites resp. Positivliste to Vertrauenswürdige Websites.

Solution D:
All the stuff relating to the Whitelist should be placed under the Whitelist Tab. So all the relevant options of the Whitelist are joined together in one Tab or few Subtabs (e.g. Whitelist, Trusted and Untrusted).

I am not a expert in gui, but all of the solutions above should help the user understanding the context.

Hope this helps?
