With noscript 1.9.9.36 and firefox 3.5.7 and google reader with it configured to popup a new window when I hit 'v' firefox will 100% a core and the UI will become unresponsive. I tested this in a fresh profile with only noscript installed and had this happen. It only started once I installed 1.9.9.36.

Does it downgrading actually help?

And BTW, how can I configure it this way to test?

I can confirm this. With previous version (1.9.9.35) it works. All the google reader website are enabled, and even with script globaly enabled the firefox just hangs for a while and ask to stop the script

I've confirmed it too. Pressing "v" while one of the items is selected results in:
NS 1.9.9.35 -> Info bar says: "Firefox prevented this site from opening pop-up window."
Google pops up an alert instructing me to disable the popup blocker.

NS 1.9.9.36 -> Firefox pops up Unresponsive script warning:

Code: Select all

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Script: http://www.google.com/reader/view/:0

Does adding *.google.com to the noscript.surrogate.popunder.exceptions about:config preference help?

Yes, that fixes the problem.

Edit: It's still blocked by Firefox's popup blocker, but that happens in a vanilla Fx 3.5.7 test profile that has no extensions installed too. That part is a Google problem.

Code: Select all

Grrr! A popup blocker may be preventing Google Reader from opening the page. If you have a popup blocker, try disabling it to open the window.

Apologies for only getting back to this thread now. I can also confirm that adding *.google.com to the noscript.surrogate.popunder.exceptions does fix the problem. Thank you for the help. :)

Also, on Ubuntu at least, the font size for reader goes really large with noscript in this version.

Just FYI - this was also happening in .36 with Facebook Connect buttons that invoke cross-domain activity between a site and Facebook. When you click the blue button, Firefox locked up. The .39 release resolved the issue.

Thanks!
