Incompatible with Firefox 3.5.7

I downloaded the newest Flashgot I could find 1.21.09 and in my addons I get the following "Flashgot is NOT compatible with the newest Firefox version 3.5.7." I did what was requested and applied it directly to my Firefox. but it doesn't work at all. I don't get a menu I don't get anything at all.
Is an update being made? I would like to know if It is my machine, other addons or is it that it just isn't compatible, I am hoping that it is the latter reason why I get absolutely nothing.

Looks like an Add-Ons Manager corruption.
Could you try to follow the steps outlined in this article?

There is NO Button. I read the articles but can find nothing to work with. I don't see what is written in the articles. and because FlashGot is incompatible it isn't listed as an active extension or addon

I also uninstalled and reinstalled. No good Sorry!

Uninstalling and reinstalling serves no purpose.
The article I linked talks about three files to be deleted. Did you?

I found and did what you said. Now there is no mention of Flashgot at all on the addons and though I've tried to reinstall it it doesn't reinstall. Nothing there . I can't even reinstall. it just won't reinstall

As a test, create a new Profile.
Install FlashGot into that.
Did that work?

I have no choice where I install Flashgot. It either loads into Firefox or it doesn't download. I never get a choice because the download isn't set up that way. Normally my download manager asks where I want the file when i download but not with Flashgot!

Not sure what you mean.
You choose to install FlashGot or not.
If you create a new Profile, FlashGot will not be installed unless you install it (unless perhaps if you installed FlashGot globally).

If you're not being asked where to download a file, then that is a setting in FF.
Something like ... Downloads -> Ask me where to save files vs. Downloads -> Save files to [folder].
In the latter case, it will automatically save any downloaded files to [folder] - you will not be asked.

I install flashgot directly into Firefox. I have no option to save it to a different folder. I also tried the new profile by renaming my original. it ssdidn't work. Even though it says I install and I must restart Firefox it still isn't in my addons. I have no idea why it just isn't there

Because you've got a corrupted add-ons manager database, as I said in my first post.
Did you actually delete extensions.ini, extensions.cache and extensions.rdf, as explained in the article I linked before?

No, I put them in a folder called old extensions.

If a profile change didn't help, uninstalling Firefox is unlikely to.
Anyway, did the clean profile show any "preinstalled" add-on (e.g. .NET Assistant or Skype)?
