[RESOLVED] Full domains not offered, only base 2nd level dom

I have a fresh install of Ubuntu Karmic Koala and NoScript. In the options, I have "full domains" selected. However it only offers me base domains. Thus, if the script is from mail.yahoo.com I am only offered the choice to whitelist yahoo.com and not mail.yahoo.com.

Any suggestions?

Although I'm not Ubuntu-friendly, here are a couple of ideas until an Ubuntu-qualified team member is available:

1) Try checking "Full addresses" and see if it makes a difference. (http://www.example.com).

2) Try the General Troubleshooting Instructions and see if something there fixes it. Let us know the results, please.

btw, I'm on your side. I use Yahoo mail, whitelist mail.yahoo.com, and mark www dot yahoo.com Untrusted. GL.

Changing to full addresses didn't help.

I note that Karmic includes Firefox 3.5.6.

I am able to manually build a full domain whitelist in the preferences settings - it just isn't offered in the one-click menu.

I have a Ubuntu LiveCD, and would be happy to fire that up; I'm not certain I can install NoScript on the LiveCD Firefox, but I can certainly try.
In the meantime, please try the General Troubleshooting Instructions, and let us know the results.

Yes, I use 3.5.6 also; just happened to be on the old one when I saw the post (please don't ask why. )

No issues on 3.5.6 on Win XP, and can't remember seeing this particular issue reported on any other platform. Looking forward to the General Troubleshooting Instructions results. It might be an extension conflict, which that would diagnose.

Quick shortcut: Try disabling all add-ons other than NoScript, and see if that resolves the issue. If so, then an extension conflict is virtually certain.

Went through the troubleshooting steps and solved the problem. I misread the options page. I was setting "full domains" on the general tab. To do what I wanted, I needed to set "full domains" on the appearance tab.

Whoa. Have you unchecked the "general" tab? Checking *that* will automatically allow scripts from said domains (just keeps third parties out). It doesn't sound like that's what you wanted.

No, you misunderstand. I was changing this setting:

NoScript Options -> General -> Left Clicking on NoScript toolbar button toggles permissions for current top-level site
* Full Addresses
* Full Domains
* Base 2nd level Domains

When I should have been changing this setting:

NoScript Options -> Appearance -> Contextual Menu:
* Base 2nd level Domains
* Full Domains
* Full Addresses

I don't use the toolbar button (in fact, the first thing I do when I install NoScript is to remove the toolbar button). Instead I use the contextual menu. These two options menus are remarkably similar (though the list of choices is inverted, which is odd).

I definitely haven't checked the "Temporarily allow top-level sites by default" option.

I wanted to *make sure* -- because those same options are listed under "TA top-level..", as the *first* choice on that tab. That is why I asked -- for your protection.
