Cannot launch JDownloader [Ubuntu 9.10]

Post by sensory »

Hi there,

When using Flashgot 1.2.0.9 I get the error message "JDownloader not responding on http://localhost:9666/flashgot!
Please check your firewall settings.
" after waiting for it to time out. When JDownloader is open, it works as usual, but it would be nice to be able start JDownloader by using Flashgot if possible.

I can't connect to http://localhost:9666/flashgot when JDownloader isn't open, but it shows up fine when it is open. When I can connect it shows "/home/sensory/.jd/JDownloader.jar java -Xmx512m -jar /home/sensory/.jd/JDownloader.jar " which when launched in the terminal outputs this error "invalid file (bad magic number): Exec format error". If I only run "java -Xmx512m -jar /home/sensory/.jd/JDownloader.jar" in the terminal it starts up JDownloader just fine.

I've also tried extending flashgot.dmsopts.JDownloader.delay in about:config to 16 but no change there.

Java is enabled in Firefox (3.5.5) and using the latest version of JDownloader (0.0.579) and Flashgot (1.2.0.9).

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks for making such a wonderful extension for Firefox. ;)

What does happen if you launch

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/java -Xmx512m -jar /home/sensory/.jd/JDownloader.jar
from a terminal window?

What's the output of

Code: Select all

which java
?

That starts up JDownloader as normal. :)

Going to clarify the help above a little.
To make Jdownloader autostart with Flashgot
You must change java path in firefox it has the wrong path. mine was /usr/java

to change path type: "about:config" into firefox address bar.
then in filter bar type: java // this will shorten list
look for string:
java.default_java_location_others
modify value to /usr/bin/java instead of /usr/java
restart firefox and you should be good to go.

I have tried this tip together with all other ones, but JD won't open. (Flashgot works fine when JD is already opened).

OS Ubuntu 10.04, Sun Java.

Log after uninstalling FG, deleting all FG-related files in FFox profile, resetting all of Firefox' FG-marked about:config settings to "none", uninstalling JD, rebooting the PC, reinstalling JD , starting it, starting Firefox, confirming that I want FG integration in Jdownloader, installing FG through JD install file, starting FG, shutting down JD and clicking the FG icon on my browser in order to download something:

I allow myself to pull this thread to the top. If no-one here knows a solution, does anyone have an idea where I could turn? The problem is widespread, and mentioned in several other threads around the Internet. It seems to be a rather straightforward case: When using a terminal, I am able to launch JDownloader by typing the command

/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.22/jre/bin/java -Xmx512m -jar /home/morten/.jdownloader/JDownloader.jar -- async

in a terminal window (java version has changed since i postet the log). In the log, Flashgot says that it has done this, but there is no reaction from JD.

Could this be a Ubuntu issue? Java?
