Why does FlashGot try to access localhost:9660? This seems to be very strange.

It's 9666, not 9660, and it's the probe to detect JDownloader, which (if installed and running) responds at http://localhost:9666/flashgot

Yes, but why does it try to access localhost:9666 through the Tor network when we run Tor?

Maybe because your proxy settings aren't correct (i.e. they don't exclude local destinations?)
FlashGot uses the high-level Firefox's XMLHttpRequest API to do that, therefore whatever your browser would do it does.

Thanks for your reply. I use Privoxy as the tor proxy I will check the settings. It also does other weird things like checking for updates when I set firefox not to allow addons to check for update and set tor button to check for updates.

I have checked the browser settings in both FF and IE proxy is disabled for localhost and local network

Does opening http://localhost:9666 from Firefox's location bar go through the proxy or not?
