US National Weather Service loops are not running

Post by WildRicer »

Although I have given my local US NWS site temporary full permissions the RADAR and Satellite loops are not running; only a blank box shows up; also the Noscript icon is not visible.
RADAR is http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/sto/radar.php; select one of the available loops, or,
Satellite http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/satellite/index.php?wfo=sto; in one of the lower areas such as Water Vapor, Western US, 16K Animation
Watching the animations helps a great deal in knowing where the weather is going to go. They were working before I installed the Noscript add-on (1.9.9.14). Weather information is fairly critical here so if there is not a solution available I shall have to disable the add-on.

It works for me. Using the default NoScript settings and whitelist, I only have to Allow weather.gov and click the placeholder. I see the radar loop for the first link, and the animation for the second.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091016 Firefox/3.5.5
NoScript 1.9.9.14. no other extensions.
Default theme.

Edit: Make sure Java is enabled.

Found the cause, and it had nothing to do with NoScript. I had moved my laptop into a bigger HD this weekend and also moved some folder locations, including where I send the Java cached files to a different partition. Didn't update the pointer in Java console and Java needs a place to keep all of it's stuff.
Did not catch that until I tried the same thing in IE8 and Java was not working there either. Of course, this is after I had reset Firefox to defaults in Safe Mode and all that other stuff so a fair amount of time was wasted. By the way, I am at Fx 3.5.3.
Thanks for the help.

You're welcome. Glad you got it sorted out.
BTW, Fx 3.5.5 has several vulnerability and stability updates. I recommend it.
