I already had to modify the default phpBB installation both for style changes and for additional features, such as the syndication feeds or the user agent string display under sig, and the more we diverge the harder security maintenance becomes.

You have done wonderfully and I thank you for making the mods. In response to the quickreply feature request, I wanted to second the notion just in case you were counting pros/cons. It is not urgent and I am not pushing, just adding my support for it and agree the more complicated the code becomes, the harder it is to maintain security and update the features later.
