I've used NoScript for quite a while and really like it, partly because it's so easy to use.

I just upgraded to 1.9.9.11 and when I tried to visit my organization's homepage, I got an ABE alert. OK, fine, so I click on the Options button expecting a choice of Allow/Disallow like all the rest of NoScript but instead I see the "Advanced" tab of a dialog. The ? button takes me to the ABE page but that doesn't tell me anything about how to use the dialog.

I don't want advanced, I want simple. How do I tell it that yes, I trust my employer. (I already did that in the NoScript button at the bottom-right of the window. I'm not familiar with writing firewall rules and I don't want to have to write rules just to be able to browse. I want a button that says "yes allow this request". Alternatively, how do I turn ABE off?

Is there a document that tells me how to use ABE without having to become a script kiddie?

thanks for your feedback.

ABE "incidents" are not that frequent (they happen only in specific intranet setups), but a "dumbing down" of ABE "user experience" is planned nevertheless, especially regarding exceptions "guessed on the fly" by ABE itself with one click.

In the meanwhile, some basic skills are necessary to create and edit rulesets.
In your case, editing the SYSTEM ruleset which protects your intranet resources to add an exception is probably needed, but for telling which I have to check the precise message you get from ABE, either from the yellow bar or from Tools|Error Console.

On a side note, ABE can be disabled just by unchecking the "Enable ABE" box in the panel you've found.

Thanks for your reply, Giorgio. I really appreciate NoScript. I hope you won't think me churlish if I confess that I found the off button just after posting. I really don't want to have to learn another esoteric language, so I'll leave ABE turned off until I see an announcement of a simplified user interface.
