I like NS but I'm getting tired of "allowing" stuff on every page I go to (I tend to go to new stuff all the time, so I'm *constantly* clicking).

I want to change the settings to allow the "basic" stuff automatically, but which one of the three choices should I start with, that allows me to remain (relatively) safe:?

Base 2nd level Domains
Full Domains
Full Addresses

Or is this not even the correct way of conceptualizing what's going on?

Sorry if the answer is obvious, I tried turning my brain into a computer but it crashed.

That's understandable. Personally, I don't mind pausing before I click to Allow javascript on a new site. I Allow javascript only for sites I think are reasonably safe, and then only when necessary.

Base 2nd level Domains is fine. Full Domains and Full Addresses are typically for those of us that want more manual control. It sounds like you want less.
If I were you, I'd explore these options:
- A left-click on the NoScript toolbar button temporarily allows the current top-level site. It's still a click, but very convenient.
If that's too much trouble, then you can go with this alternative. It's less safe, but even more convenient.
- Check NoScript Options > Temporarily allow top-level sites by default.
