Error -239 when installing on SeaMonkey

Hi.

When I try to install the latest version (1.1.8.5) on SeaMonkey 1.1.14, a chrome registration problem is reported and it prompts for a retry. When I do so, it finally fails with an error code -239.

AFAIK such error is related to network problems, which in this case is strange because I was installing the XPI file previously downloaded.

I've tried downloading it from flashgot.net and also from the SeaMonkey add-ons site. And finally I've also tried on different computers, all of them with SM 1.1.14. No success so far.

In case it's relevant, these are my other extensions:

Duplicate Tab 1.0.2
Flash Block 1.3.11
Jump Link 1.2
Mnenhy 0.7.6
Preferences Toolbar 4.1.2
Reload Every 0.6.1

Thanks.

Thanks for your response, therube. Unfortunately it didn't work, same result...

Oops. Didn't realize I was in the FlashGot forum.

That being the case, my instructions would remain the same except you would ...
Remove flashgot.jar (rather then noscript.jar).
(If you did remove noscript.jar, assuming you had NoScript installed, you would need to reinstall NoScript . And it looks like you did not, per your list above.)

No problem, I assumed you were referring to flashgot.jar and the procedure would be the same otherwise, but the installation keeps failing after that.

Thanks again ;)

(Backup first. And obviously if you remove your Profile /chrome/ in its entirety, you would need to reinstall all your extensions.)

? SeaMonkey, FlashBlock, and Mnenhy (oh my!)

Or can you use Mnenhy to remove FlashGot, then retrying the installation?

Are you running as a Limited user in XP? Or have some anti-malware program that may be interfering?

Just to complete my story:

- No, my XP accounts have full permissions, that couldn't be the problem.
- Mnenhy didn't show Flashgot, so I couldn't use it to uninstall.

In one of my retries, I selected to install it on he SM folder rather than on my profile, which I usually tend to avoid at all costs, and surprisingly it worked. So I suppose something is wrong with the chrome contents in my profile, or maybe one of the other extensions is interfering.

Next time I reinstall SM I might start from scratch, including my profile, and see if something changes by adding flashgot right after Mnenhy and before any other extension. I'll report here my findings, if any.

Thanks for you time and suggestions, therube.

(in SeaMonkey & in hindsight ...)

FlashGot typically stores parts of itself in both the (SeaMonkey) installation directory & also in your Profile.

Again typically & by default (it's been so long since I've actually clean installed), FlashGot installs into your Profile directory, only placing those pieces that must be in the install directory, there.

Searching each location for flashgot.* might have provided some clues.

(Something in the FlashGot FAQ too.)

[Note that any information here would also apply to NoScript.]
