I have the same problem, but following the link to reinstall the addon results always in the message that the noscript-12.1.1.xpi file is corrupted and cannot be installed. Even the reinstallation of firefox is not possible. All my addons are disabled and cannot be activated or reinstalled.

I understand this topic is marked as resolved, however, there is a further complication.
Windows Firefox users, even if you update Firefox, it won't fix the problem right away.
Hamburger button (three horizontal lines) / Help / About Firefox. Version MUST be 136 (or newer).
I had to update Firefox three times to get past version 127, now I am able to use NoScript.
This is not mentioned in the "breakage" report via Mozilla.
I sincerely hope this helps.
Thank you,
Apoxode

Split these posts to a new thread so this issue can get its own proper attention. The issue in the other thread involved similar symptoms, but the cause was different - this new issue is more widespread and is not resolved.

I run a legacy mac which does not support the latest version of Firefox. The recommended browser for OSX 10.6 is Interweb, which is based on Firefox 55.

Firefox has just closed down all my add-ons, including NoScript, Adblock Pro and Pop-up Blocker, which I used all the time. Most websites these days pile in a dozen or more third party malware apps, which need to be zapped to have any security or privacy at all. Later OS have these forced malware installations and upgrades automatic with no way of escaping them, which is why I much prefer legacyware. Since Firefox did the dirty, I am now finding my hard drive spare capacity going down and down, with no way of controlling what is loaded onto it by hostile elements.

Is there a legacy browser I can use that still allows NoScript to be used? Chrome gave up long ago, as with the offerings from Microsoft and Apple, and Duckduckpro does not support my system either.

Elmbeard, your issue sounds very different from the one discussed in this thread:

Actually, looks like Interweb is based on a fork of UXP/Goanna (which yes some versions are in turn Firefox 55 based). Last I checked, UXP based browsers did not support Firefox's forced addon signing. Also, the last version of NoScript for Gecko-55-like browsers (NoScript 5.1.9) is not signed, so it cannot be affected by a signing certificate expiring.

Most UXP based browsers deliberately try to block NoScript because it can cause stability issues like viewtopic.php?t=27128 , although don't know if Interweb might be using its own block list that might not have such entries.

Have you contacted Interweb devs about the issue you're experiencing?

As a former Mac OS X 10.6 user myself, +1 for this sentiment.

Many current Linux distros do not force such crap. Just saying.

SeaMonkey is still available.
But...

> The last version with Mac OS X 10.5 support was SeaMonkey 2.13.

So you're really dated with those, 2.13 being Oct. 2012 - wow, that's really old.
(Heh, let me say that again, wow, that's really old.)

Thanks for the advice. I can confirm that NoScript 5.1.9 is back and running on Interweb 55 for OSX 10.6.8. I also managed to restore Adblock Plus 2.8.2 and Speed Dial 0.9.6.17.
