Websites do not work

Post by GermanUser »

I'm using Firefox 128.0.3 and NoScript v 11.4.31.

I can't get stuff to work on various / many websites. Regardless of which blocked scripts I allow (temporarily / permanently), an affected website does not work.

In particular, I see a higher number on the S icon in the browser toolbar than in the list. For example, there is a small 2 indicating that two scripts are blocked. However, when I try to allow them, I cannot, as there is only 1 entry in the list of blocked scripts.

I understand that this is a rather generic description of my problem. But I'm not particularly tech-savvy. Happy to answer any questions

Could you please give a specific example? What URL, and what website functionality doesn't work at that URL? What have you tried to troubleshoot or fix the problem?

Thank you for your quick reply. Let's go.

For example, office-partner.de. I see a small 8 by the No Script icon. When I "drop down" the list to allow blocked scripts, the list only shows 7 entries. In the following I can't buy anything. Among others, because I am not redirected to Paypal.

Sometimes, when I go back and forth and reload and stuff, I all of a sudden get the message it was a site with privileged rights and I can't change anything.

Paypal scripts are not blocked. They are allowed in general and permanently.

If I log in to my Paypal account first and only then visit the other website, it works. I.e., I can buy stuff and pay with Paypal, but the other website still does not work properly.

No Script works perfectly fine when the icon number (e.g. 8, see above) and the entries in the list are the same.

The small 8 by the NoScript icon is counting the number of individual blocked <script> tags and such. The list shows domains from which active content is coming. A single domain can serve more than one piece of active content.

Unfortunately we're not able to test examples that require login or financial transaction. Do you have a different example we can test?

Are you sure it's NoScript interfering?
Does disabling NoScript (Tools > Add-ons and Themes > NoScript, click the toggle switch off) get it working?
If so, does going NoScript popup, "Disable restrictions for this tab" also get it working?
