Hello,I am new here. I use Google Chrome and I was having trouble viewing a website and I went to my Extensions to determine which one was the culprit. As soon as I opened the Extension page, there was an alert stating that some of the extensions I use will no longer be supported soon. It didn't say when that would be, but Noscript was among those listed.

I looked for an alternative, but the ones suggested by Google Chrome weren't what I was looking for. Does anyone here know of a good alternative extension that does the same thing as Noscript does or do the developers plan to release a version that will work with Chrome? I would transfer to another browser but I've been using Google Chrome for many years and don't want to do this.

unfortunately there no reliable alternatives to Noscript for Chrome these days.
I use to use something like ScriptSafe several years ago on Chrome but that one is outdated & no longer reliable on modern Chrome versions.

we'll just have to wait and see if Giorgio can produce a Manifest V3 version of Noscript that could possibly work on recent versions of Google Chrome.

Ah, such a pity. Noscript is indeed a very useful tool. Hopefully a newer version that will work with Chrome can be developed. In the meantime, I'll see if I can find an acceptable alternative as I did find other script blockers on Chrome's web extension store - just not as powerful.

Would be iteresting to know what NoScript plans are or are there?

Sounds like, & assuming it works, & until Chrome nixes it, it should apply to any extension, so NoScript included.

I decided to implement a registry hack that uses "ExtensionManifestV2Availability" which will allow usage of Noscript in Chrome until June of next year and no longer show the "not supported" message in Chrome for the Noscript extension:

That's cool! Is there a link somewhere where I can view the steps to implement this registry hack or would you mind posting the steps in this thread? That way I as wells as other Chrome users who wish to do so can still use Noscript until Google pulls the plug.

recently saw this notice on the Noscript download page that the upcoming Noscript 12.x alpha release will be manifest v3 compatible

NoScript 11.5.x is compatible with Gecko versions 115 and above. NoScript 12 alpha, which is going to be released before the end of 2024, will be Manifest V3 and Chrome compatible out of the box.

so that reg hack that I mentioned a few months ago will no longer be needed for recent Chrome versions once Noscript version 12 comes out

It is not clear that OP originally intended this thread to be about Manifest v3, but people are ignoring Moderator request for clarification and continuing to discuss Manifest v3 here regardless.
