Weird behavior on PlanetMinecraft

I'm not sure if the problem I'm having is related to Firefox (I'm using Waterfox) or NoScript, or both. I didn't find anything via a DDG search, though that doesn't say much since search has been dying for over 10 years.

On PlanetMinecraft.com, when you mouse over some things on the page you get a popup. Well, normally you do, I'm here because it breaks. I have 1st party scripts enabled via NoScript, and when the mouse over popup is supposed to happen, I instead get a popup with an error. Several things on the site break and display a popup like this. I believe this popup is the regular javascript popup (modal? I forget what they are called).

Code: Select all

I believe the important part is the reference to AJAX, which is an older web technology. I've tried fiddling with other blockers that I have running, uBlock, Privacy Badger, etc. I suspect the issue is with one of the backend blocking technologies that NoScript uses that I'm not as familiar with as I am the script blocking technologies. The other blockers, like XSS, almost never cause a problem, so I haven't really fiddled with them, and I haven't fiddled with them at all since the UI change a few years ago, so I don't even know where to go to look to fiddle with them.

Does NoScript mess with ajax? Or am I looking in the wrong direction?

I was on the page https://www.planetminecraft.com/project ... -10001000/ and you can mouse over the user to get the error.

Using NoScript triggers NoScript's anti-spam measures..... #irony

(I don't currently have access to my systems with Firefox+NoScript, so can't yet check the link directly, but thank you for posting the exact URL + steps to reproduce the issue 8-) In the mean time...)

NoScript can mess with AJAX. If the issue persists when (as a test) using "Disable restrictions for this tab" in NoScript, and you have already confirmed that other content blockers are not causing the issue, then please do check it in Firefox as Waterfox is not a supported browser.

If however "Disable restrictions for this tab" does get it working, next thing I'd check is which active content sources need "script" and/or "fetch" permission

Username hovering on that page works for me without error on Firefox 122 with only planetminecraft.com set to Temp. TRUSTED.
