No CAPTCHA unless NoScript is disabled

When I go to windows10forums.com with NoScript enabled and try to register I get a message that says "You did not complete the CAPTCHA verification properly." because there is no Captcha on the registration page. If I disable NoScript I then see the Captcha on that page.

And if I type "No Captcha Unless NoScript Is Disabled" in the Subject box of this post, I get a message about your spam filter not accepting the post.

What's going on with NoScript?

What if you "Disable restrictions for this tab" in NoScript?

That works. Thank you.

In that case, it should be a matter of figuring out what NoScript permissions need to be allowed for the CAPTCHA.

I wouldn't recommend treating "Disable restrictions for this tab" as a solution here, because something like a CAPTCHA could potentially be thrown by the site at any time, on any page, for a variety of reasons.

Then somebody should fix the problem. NoScript did not give me cross-tab warnings for years and now it does for about 1/4 the sites I regularly visit.

I'm back on forum staff now and was able to change the subject.

That protection was introduced new in NoScript 11.4.8rc1, August 2022. It didn't exist during those years.

Welcome back!

Re: "No CAPTCHA unless NoScript is disabled":
I just placed the above into the Subject of a new post and received this message after I clicked "Submit":

"Ooops, something in your posting triggered my antispam filter...
Please use the "Back" button to modify your content and retry.
"

I don't see anything that would preclude the posting of that message.

"...what NoScript permissions need to be allowed for the CAPTCHA." Wouldn't one of the developers be more in a position to determine the cause of the problem? I don't have the foggiest notion about where to start looking for permissions of a CAPTCHA.

Set windows10forums.com to Temp. TRUSTED and took a quick look at that registration page, and the CAPTCHA just showed up for me, no (other) permission changes needed. I think it is that I have hcaptcha.com already set to TRUSTED.

Just a real quick reply...

I took a look at my Permissions and I do have an entry for "captcha.com". It is set to "Trusted" with a green padlock.

???

Do you also have one like that for hcaptcha.com? If so, how have you configured your TRUSTED preset? (NoScript Options > General, Trusted tab)

I looked but nope, nothing for "hcaptcha".

If Temp. Trusting hcaptcha.com from the NoScript popup did not get this working for whatever reason, try adding hcaptcha.com manually in NoScript Options > Per-site Permissions before visiting the page?

I tried adding "hcaptcha.com" to my Per-Site permissions page and setting it to "Trusted". Hcaptcha.com now appears as trusted with a white unlocked padlock inside a red-filled circle.

And the problem still exists: If I type "No Captcha Unless NoScript Is Disabled" in the Subject box of this post, type a few words in the message area, and click "Submit", I get this message:

Code: Select all

"Ooops, something in your posting triggered my antispam filter...
Please use the "Back" button to modify your content and retry."
Is this something within NoScript or something that can be fixed on my computer?

Neither. That problem is completely unrelated to the NoScript issue you brought up in this thread. It has nothing to do with NoScript nor your computer: the spam filtering takes place on the server side of this board.

If my changing the subject on this thread did not already address the reason this is important to you, you can private message what you want to post to an active Support Team member and we will try to post it for you. PMs to forum staff are not spam-filtered, and the spam filter is more lenient on us.

Hi,

It appears that I should ask about the problem by going to the forum that produced the error message (windows10forums.com). Maybe something in that forum doesn't like something in my Subject line...

The only thing I can see in my Subject line that you might have changed is the capitalization because originally I capitalized every word.

It's pretty confusing to me, so maybe I should just drop it.
