Giorgio, please, can we lose the new dark theme?

Post by kukla »

At least as the default when not logged in. Don't necessarily want to login in order to read latest posts. For me, big turn-off. Makes reading very difficult, causes bad case of eye strain. Original Pro Silver - black text white background - much more accessible.

I do prefer dark, but I hear you.
I'll work out something (at least accessible and persistent preference switch for guest users) during the weekend.

Recently, there has been an unfortunate trend to return to dark modes. But for many people this is really hard to read, for example because they have astigmatism. On the other hand, light modes basically do not cause any problems for anyone. Therefore, I think a light mode is the better default. And if it has to be a dark mode, does it have to be one with such a harsh contrast?

Personally, I like it, clean and easy on the eyes. However, I work with a lot of people with accessibility limitations who find the reverse high contrast difficult to work with, I am sympathetic.

I think we can still make the black the default, just provide an accessible option for those who don't want it to switch to under the profile or via the forum footer.

Yes indeed, much better, love it! Including the combo box with three different designs to choose from. 👍

Hesitate to bring this up, since my comment may too much resemble "The Princess and the Pea," perhaps a bit too niggling, but if I'm not mistaken, when I first saw the new light theme yesterday wasn't the listing of topic posts, and other items elsewhere, such as the Board Index, in blue (as in the original silver theme), and not highlighted in this kind of very glaring bright red, as they are now. Not sure this red highlighting is really needed or effective, since I have no problem differentiating the topic posts in blue. Did you make this change since then? Or am I misremembering?

If it's to make it easier to read the topics, actually does the reverse, since as highlighted in this very bright red, for me at least with this glaring, overwhelming red, makes reading the topics a bit more difficult, distracts from the topics themselves. If it's not too much trouble, a return to the original blue, perhaps with red on hover, (if in fact that would be a return) would be appreciated.
