NoScript Documentation

Instead of hijacking the What is that little blue plus sign?? thread, I'll move the discussion to this new thread...

Yes, I think NoScript could do a better job organizing and pointing users towards its documentation:
  1. The main documentation is noscript.net/features. Features is a strange place for the equivalent of a documentation manual. To me, "features" is an overview of what a product does in an attempt to sell you on its merits. Once I've installed NoScript, it wouldn't occur to me to check here for info. IMHO noscript.net needs a formal "documentation" or "manual" section.
  2. The FAQ is good, but I think some of the common things in the forums should be added to it. IMHO a Wiki would work great here, but regardless users shouldn't have to search both the FAQ and forum stickies to find common information.
  3. The ABE documentation at noscript.net/abe is not directly linked from the noscript.net main page or the features section. There is only one tiny link in question 8.1 of the FAQ. For something so complex and so frequently asked about in the forums, IMHO it needs to be more prominently displayed.
  4. The NoScript addon doesn't point you to the features, FAQ, or forums (it just gives the top-level noscript.net in the About dialog). For people installing it from AMO, there is no direct link to these key documentation and support areas. IMHO the NoScript left/right-click popup main menu should have a "Help" entry that contains "About v#.#.#.#", "Home Page", "Manual", "FAQ", "Support Forums", "Change Log", and "License" sub-items.

Thanks for your suggestion.
Yes, better documentation is an overdue task.

Thank you, Foam Head, for moving the discussion to its own topic and especially for taking the time to make your recommendations. I guess you and I see the role of a Features page differently. It has never occurred to me to try to use any software effectively without perusing the description of what it does, so I appreciate your different point of view. I've been using NoScript for so long its hard for me to put myself in the shoes of a new user. On the other hand, I still find Google Site Search indispensable. :)
