Revoke Specific Permission In All Custom Per-Site Settings

Post by Wes4Web »

I would like to have the ability to quickly and easily revoke a specific permission (like 'LAN', of instance) for every entry in the 'Per-Site Permissions' tab of the NoScript Settings/Options dialog, that is currently set to 'CUSTOM' (as apposed to DEFAULT or UNTRUSTED). When a site is set to DEFAULT or UNTRUSTED, I can already easily change these types of settings in one place, which I love. But if I have hundreds of sites listed in the 'Per-Site Permissions' tab that are currently set to 'CUSTOM', I don't know of a way to make a specific change to all of them at one time.

Lets say I just realized what one of those permissions is actually allowing, and I don't like it, and I want to revoke that permission to every site, across the board. I don't know how, or even if it is possible, without having to sit there for hours, clicking on each site listed in the 'Per-Site Permissions' tab that is currently set to Custom, then change that one setting manually in each one...then just hope that all those permissions get saved that way when I'm done and close the browser. Can anyone confirm or deny that this ability currently exists or not? And if it is currently possible, can you provide either good links or detailed instructions (geared towards a beginner) that would show me (and others) how to do that. Also, if it is possible, and it would involve having to know how to write some sort of computer code language, can this please invoke a request to have this feature included as a quick & easy user interface type tool in the near future? Thank you.

Not currently possible in the UI. It might be achievable if you export your NoScript settings, edit the export file performing some sort of batch operation, & import the modified file back.

(Just to note, if you have "hundreds" of CUSTOM entries, maybe viewtopic.php?f=10&t=26548 would be a related request?)

Thank you for the response barbaz. I searched for quite a while trying to see if there was another post similar to what I was looking for, but I am not familiar with this forum, so I was unsuccessful in that search. I hate that this setting defaulted to 'checked', seemingly in every custom listing. I would have chosen to have it un-checked when it was added. Seems like that should have been some sort of 'heads up' banner when the update happened that allowed me to specify which way I wanted that to go. Oh well. I have very limited coding skills like CNC machine coding, Autodesk Inventor iLogic (uses vb.net), and limited VBA. I have dabbled very briefly with Batch programs before, but did not retain a lot of it, and likely would have to re-learn a lot of it to make use of it again. I will likely have to stick to the manual process...sometime...likely never find the time...
I have not registered here, so I probably don't have the ability to up-vote all the related links to this issue, or I would.
Thanks again.

I suppose that you can do this with any word processor's Find&Replace procedure?
For example on Word replace "object",^p -> nothing.
This of course with no guarantee!
