google-analytics, et.al. google scripts

In the past I have never allowed google-analytics.com and other google scripts that I didn't understand. After reading the FAQ on this forum I came across a mention that this helped pay for the web site (if memory serves me). It was never my intention to harm any developers who depend on this for support dollars.

If this is so, would you please restate it clearly here which google sites can and should be allowed in the whitelist. Also, I noticed in another thread a mention of doubleclick.net. Is that a reasonable site to allow?

Thanks for the support. And I thanked you with my modest PayPal donation. It's a small token for the great service you provide. This is an excellent web site. Extremely well done. Gracias, Giorgio!

IMO, Allow what you are comfortable with or need to Allow for a site to work correctly.
And if that is not google or is not doubleclick, then don't.

With ABE (I believe) you can create a rule where google-analytics.com is allowed for information.com, noscript.net, & flashgot.net.

Perhaps something like:

Code: Select all

Site *.google-analytics.com
Accept from *.information.com information.com *.noscript.net noscript.net *.flashgot.net flashgot.net
Deny

Google Analytics does not help pay for anything. It's a free tracking service that tells website authors who uses their site (information about the visitor's browser and operating system, what site they came from, where they live) and how they use it.

The domains used to serve advertisements on noscript.net are googlesyndication.com and doubleclick.net, so allow those if you want to support NS.
