I haven't installed anything else in the last half hour, and everything I try works on midori, so I'm suspecting noscript.

Try Fantastic Contraption or any of them.

Confirmed. That game doesn't work for me, even if I Allow Scripts Globally. Error Console message is

NoScript 1.9.8.85 with default settings except Scripts Globally Allowed
Default theme and no other extensions.

The game works in a test profile without NoScript.
